What is DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter service?

DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter is a product offering where you can continue to use your existing telephone equipment to take advantage of the savings of using your broadband Internet connection on the ACN digital (VoIP) network.

How does DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter service work?

DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter is a digital phone service that enables you to make and receive calls over the Internet instead of over traditional land lines. You use your existing telephone equipment, which connects directly to your ACN Digital Talk Phone Adapter to provide your phone service.

What are the requirements for DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter service?
DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter requires a wired high speed Internet connection and 80 kbps of continuous bandwidth per concurrent call. ACN does not recommend using a satellite or wireless Internet connection.  Using these types of Internet connections can cause quality of service and registration issues with your adapter.
What are the terms of service with DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter?
There are contract terms of 2 and 3 years.  You will be required to accept the terms and conditions of service at the time of purchase.
Is there an early termination fee?

The early termination fee is $150.00

Does DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter come with Internet access?

DigitalTalk Express requires a high speed Internet connection. You will need to purchase a separate high speed Internet connection either provided by ACN or another carrier.

Does the service support fax machines, credit card machines, point of sale devices, data terminals, TTY machines or other non-voice services?

These services were originally developed for the traditional telephone network.  An option to add a traditional phone line will be displayed as a Data/Fax Line in Step 1 of the ordering process (in areas where available).

Service/Equipment

Do I need to have a technician install DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter?

ACN recommends you have the service installed by a qualified internal resource or a 3rd party.

If you have more than two lines or have any of the following (or do not know), you should have someone perform the installation of your equipment:

  • 66-type termination Block
  • Need Ethernet cable installed
  • Have a separate firewall appliance

If you have two lines or less and do not have any of the above network components – and can perform simple wiring – you may be able to install the equipment yourself.

Do I need a router for connection of my DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter?

Yes.  The DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter requires a wired Ethernet connection to your router to enable connection to the Internet.

What if I don’t have enough physical ports on my router?

An inexpensive Ethernet switch is a good solution to add physical ports to a network.

I have DSL service currently.  Can I transfer my telephone number to DigitalTalk Phone Adapter service?
Yes. First, you must separate your DSL service from the telephone number you are switching to ACN. Separation will ensure that your Internet service remains active after the transfer of your telephone number.
Can I fax with the DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter?

Faxing technology was originally developed for the traditional telephone network, so ACN recommends using a traditional analog telephone line, either provided by ACN or another carrier.

How many lines can I have with DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter service?

The DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter allows up to 4 voice lines. Each line has a unique telephone number. You have the option to transfer your existing telephone number(s), or request a new number(s) from ACN – or a mix of both to meet your needs.

Can I configure or make changes to my DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter?

The DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter is preconfigured to connect to the ACN network and support all ACN Digital Phones Service features and functionality.  No configuration or changes are needed.

Can I assign a static IP address to my DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter?

The DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter has been configured for DHCP. Static IP address is not supported.

Billing/Payment

What payment options are available with DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter service?

A credit/debit card is required for purchase and for payment of your monthly charges.  Your monthly invoice will be charged to the credit/debit card we have on file from your initial purchase. You may update your credit/debit card information at any time via your online account.

How do I view my invoice?

Your invoice will be made available via your online account.   At completion of the ordering process, you will receive an email with your username and password.  Your username and password will be required to log in to your online account.

How do I access my online account?

Simply select My Account from the ACN DigitalTalk Express home page or click here.  You will need your username and password established at sign up.

Features

What features do I receive with DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter service?

You receive all the popular features you’re accustomed to and want!  Many features can be easily managed through two-digit feature codes. The list of features and feature codes can be found here.

How do I know if I have a voice message?

The phone light on the adapter will blink in 1.5 second (On/Off) intervals.  There will also be stutter dial tone on any phones connected to your DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter. Some telephones may also have an icon/light or other indicator of a message waiting.

How do I check the voice mail associated with my DigitalTalk Express Phone Adapter service?
  • Dial *62 from the line that has voice mail (typically the main line)
  • Enter the default passcode of 1234
  • Follow the prompts to set up and listen to your voice messages
How do I change the number of rings before the call is sent to voice mail?

Dial *610 from the line that has voice mail and respond to the prompts.
